The first ever Shred Classic cycle race held on the Hoe on Wednesday night was a great success with some very competitive racing and superb wins by local riders. The weather was truly atrocious which made the racing even more compelling to watch and produced some very atmospheric images. I am still going through the pictures I took on the night and will shortly put them online, so please check again in later on today.

ETHOS TO PHOTOGRAPH SHRED CLASSIC CYCLE RACE

It’s about time cycle racing came back to Plymouth, and it’s happening tomorrow on the Hoe from 6pm! We can only thank Shred Publishing for organising this evening of adrenaline fuelled competition on 2 wheels.

My excuse for not entering the race myself is that I’ve been asked to take pictures of the race and general going-ons of the evening. This promises to be a very fast race on very smooth tarmac on the Hoe, and I know I will get a lot more satisfaction from taking pictures than getting dropped after 2 laps!

Come and witness for yourselves just how exciting cycle racing can be and you never know, you may even catch the bug and want to enter next time.

MEET JIMMY & FREDDIE

These two cheeky chaps came in with their Mum and Dad last week and were great fun in the studio. It was really nice to see them play and have a good laugh together. My own family is growing, with a second boy due in October, and I hope our sons will have just as close a relationship as  Jimmy and Freddie.

They came in for the last Kodak Awards session for this year and I got some great shots of the whole family and of Amelia, who was a real star on the day. Let’s the images I selected as competition entries will grab the judges attention.

Top hair salon Arena on Ebrington Street in Plymouth are the latest in a series of local businesses to brighten up their walls with Ethos images. Lara, the salon’s owner, recently approached Ethos to produce a portfolio of bridal hair designs to promote Arena’s wedding service. A fun shoot ensued and the resulting images will shortly be visible at the salon. We are also planning some joint promotions, so watch this space and visit www.arenacreativehair.co.uk to find out more about Arena.

ETHOS… NOW ON LOCATION!

I was on Cawsand beach yesterday, sampling some lovely springtime sun and witnessing the start of something really fresh and exciting for Ethos. Playing in the waves were two pure breed horses, ridden by the proud parents of a two year old little girl. She was sitting quietly on her dad’s lap, totally confident as the horses splashed about and trotted along. On an overlooking rock, Seb Joli, Ethos’ new location photographer, was capturing this delightful family as they were doing what they love best.

After spending many years offering his services in the Salcombe area, Seb Joli is relocating and is now available to photograph families in South East Cornwall under the Ethos brand. As mentioned earlier, This marks a big step forward for Ethos. Seb is an expert in making the most of the beautiful South West scenery to produce vibrant family portraits on location. This new partnership means that we can now give our clientele the choice between studio or location portraiture.

So if you are looking for portraits in your favourite Cornish beauty spot, practicing your favourite sport, or if you simply prefer the comfort of your own home, call to book Seb. If on the other hand you are seeking stylised portraits created in a studio environment , you should book me, William. In either case, we guarantee you a fun and relaxed photo-shoot that delivers portraits you will be proud of and will cherish for ever.

We are still finalising the details of this new service; however, you can already book Seb Joli for a photo-shoot when you purchase a portrait voucher online HERE or from the studio on 01579 351913.

D.I.Y. ROCKS!

How often do you hear of guitarists building their own guitars? This young man certainly had the patience to create his own instrument and had the courage to bring it to the studio for his family’s photo-shoot. Let’s be honest, it doesn’t sound like a guitar, but at least his efforts led to some great portraits. This is one of my favourites.

The June 2010 issue of What Mountain Bike is out now, and features a gatefold inside cover ad for Raceface / Silverfish. I did the photos, Shred Publishing did the artwork. This is the kind of teamwork I like.

Issue 52 of Shred Magazine in out now. I photographed the front cover again this month, but this time, my photographs are also featured over a 5 double page spread for a fashion shoot. I’m really happy with the images and it’s always rewarding to get a chance to experiment a little. A big thank you to Shred for this opportunity. Shred is an excellent cycling mag.
